David Cameron Gets Job with the National Citizen Service
Thursday 13 October, 2016 Written by Carter StoddardFormer British Prime Minister David Cameron said he’s gotten himself a new gig with a civil-service organization that encourages British teenagers to work with their communities, BBC reported on Wednesday.
The job with the National Citizen Service is Cameron’s first new job since giving up his seat in Parliament last month and abdicating the prime minister’s spot following the June 23 Brexit vote.
Cameron will serve as chairman of NCS Patrons. His goal is to make participation in the program “a normal part of growing up,” he said.
NCS aims to prepare 15 to 17 -year-olds for work through community projects and team building exercises.
According to the BBC, the organization has had 275,000 participants since its launch in 2011.
The former prime minister said he was “delighted” that his replacement, Theresa May, was moving forward on a National Citizen Service Bill, a piece of legislation that would grant Cameron’s new employer, the NCS, permanent legal standing and compel schools and councils to promote it, according to the BBC.
