Rowntree Report - Households Below a Minimum Income Standard
Monday 15 February, 2016 Written by Simon CollyerA report by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation has found that while employment levels are rising, the risk of having insufficient income has risen “substantially” for couple parents working full-time and that things are getting “progressively worse” for families with children in the UK as a result of Tory benefit cuts in particular. The report also notes that the imposition of the Bedroom Tax, which represents 12 per cent of the “minimum weekly budget for a single person”, has contributed to a higher risk of low income in social tenants in the UK.
