Government Reshuffle Could See Yet Another DWP Minister Appointed

GOVERNMENT RESHUFFLE - It could be all change at the DWP once more as Boris reshuffles his team. 

Monday

Prime Minister Boris Johnson to start mini-government reshuffle.

Thérèse Coffey, work and pensions secretary; and Julian Smith, Northern Ireland secretary are rumoured to be in-line for demotion. 

The list of Cabinet ministers said to be in danger includes Andrea Leadsom, business secretary; Theresa Villiers, environment secretary; Liz Truss, international trade secretary; and Jacob Rees-Mogg, the leader of the House of Commons. Others who could be demoted are: Ben Wallace, defence secretary; 

The Institute of Government think tank launches a report, authored by former special adviser to Theresa May Raoul Ruparel, on the five key errors made by the former prime minister during the first phase of the Brexit negotiations.

Tuesday

Election of the Speaker of the House of Commons. If former Speaker Lindsay Hoyle indicates that he is willing to be re-elected, the Father of the House will call a MP to move a motion that he take the chair as Speaker, 2.30 p.m.

Wednesday

Swearing in of members of the House of Commons, 11.30 a.m.

Thursday

Queen’s Speech, 11.25 a.m.

Swearing in of members of the House of Commons, 2 p.m.

Friday

If accepted by the Speaker, the Withdrawal Agreement Bill could be reintroduced in the House of Commons.
