PIP Reviews after Retirement Age

Social Welfare Training have brought this to our attention. 

If a client is still on PIP after retirement age will their award be subject to review?

Generally not- Amber Rudd, The Work and Pensions Secretary, has announced 'We will no longer regularly review the PIP awards for claimants who have reached State Pension age, unless they tell us that their needs have changed.' and clients will 'no longer have their awards regularly reviewed, instead moving to a light touch review at 10 years.

Nearly 290,000 people of State Pension age are in receipt of PIP.' Also she states- 'we will test the feasibility of using a single assessment to determine eligibility for PIP, and ESA-Universal Credit.'
