Rising Star Laura Pidcock Tipped as Potential New Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary
Wednesday 09 May, 2018 Written by Politico/Simon CollyerJeremy Corbyn needs a new shadow work and pensions secretary.
Margaret Greenwood has been filling in while Abrahams has been suspended, and so is the obvious choice for the job.
But there is some idle speculation Corbyn could spring a surprise by promoting another rising star such as Laura Pidcock (tipped by some Corbynistas as a future leader) instead.
Friends of Debbie Abrahams claim she was targeted by the leader’s office after repeatedly challenging Corbyn and John McDonnell on welfare policy. They claim the allegations of bullying are spurious and made by a member of staff installed by Corbyn’s office. But party insiders say this is “nonsense” and that “multiple complainants came forward, supported by several witnesses.” The investigation was carried out by senior party officials, following a formal HR process.
This is the second shadow Cabinet sacking Corbyn has been forced into inside six weeks, but both Labour and the Tory's are having bullying issues.
