Department for Work and Pensions Seeking Digital Delivery Director
Saturday 19 August, 2017 Written by Sam Trendall, Public TechnologyThe Department for Work and Pensions is offering a six-figure salary as it seeks a technology leader to oversee the creation of a new computing infrastructure and the delivery of its digital services.
The DWP is recruiting for a digital delivery director, a role which will pay about £130,000 per year. The department said that “this is a critical, hands-on leadership role, with responsibility for next-generation enterprise-wide architecture design, and infrastructure on which millions of users, and hundreds of products, rely”.
The responsibilities that come with the post include designing and implementing the use of both public and private cloud technology across the department, as well as leading digital service delivery, with a focus on security and minimising downtime. The digital delivery director will also head up architecture design and software development teams.
In the candidate information pack, DWP chief information and data officer Mayank Prakash said: “There’s never been a better time to join DWP Digital, if you’re inspired by the opportunity to reimagine our country’s future using data, design, and technology. DWP offers genuinely challenging and fulfilling career opportunities for leaders interested in making a genuine difference to society on a massive scale.”
The digital delivery director job will be based, variously, in London, Manchester, and Newcastle. Candidates have until 18 September to apply, with a meeting being held on 3 October to define a shortlist. Assessments of shortlisted applicants will be held on 16 October, with panel interviews scheduled for 10 November.
It is the second high-level technology post that the DWP has advertised in the space of a few weeks; last month the department announced that it is offering a salary of up to £140,000 a year for a new chief technology officer.
