Wages For Italian Youth Decline
Wednesday 15 March, 2017 Written by PoliticoFascinating, but depressing, study by two Bank of Italy researchers on “entry wages,” the first pay packets earned by subsequent generations of Italian workers between 1974 and 2014. Their conclusion: “Entry wages started to decline around the mid-1990s; the drop continued at least until the onset of the global financial crisis, seemingly slowing down thereafter … Falling entry wages have not been accompanied by faster subsequent career paths.” In other words, it’s getting worse and worse for younger workers in Italy.
