Dutch Voters Abandoning Labour in Favour of Far Right

Dutch election is the collapse of the center left, and it goes a long way to explaining why the country’s politics are in turmoil. Low-income voters, angry at Labour for selling out, are abandoning the second-largest party in parliament in favour of a Geert Wilders-led far right and a smattering of far-left parties. Polls indicate Labor could slip as low as seventh place. And the Netherlands isn’t alone.

In the UK however the British Conservative Party is 26 points ahead of the opposition Labour. Since the poll series began in 1983, the Tories have had a lead this big only three times, most recently in 2008, during the financial crisis.
