Tax Help for Older People is a service from the charity Tax Volunteers providing free, independent and expert help and advice for older people on lower incomes who cannot afford to pay for professional tax advice. With over 420 volunteers and a national call centre, it doesn't matter where you live.

From claiming benefits and advice on debts, to our pension calculator, money-saving tips and information on making a will and power of attorney, we've got it covered.

There are many ways to get free financial help and information. But it also pays to know when you might need the type of advice free services can’t provide. Here at the Money Advice Service, we provide free and unbiased help and guidance on all money matters.

An Older Person’s Bus Pass entitles you to free off-peak travel on local bus services across England between 9.30am and 11.00pm Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and public holidays. You can use the bus pass on Maidstone Park & Ride, Gravesend /Tilbury Ferry and *Canterbury Park & Ride. As a general rule, the bus pass does not entitle you to free travel on scheduled coach services, ferries, trains, trams or community transport schemes, although some exceptions do apply.

You are eligible if you are a Kent resident living in Kent for more than six months per year as your sole and principal residency and are of eligible age. The age of eligibility for a bus pass in England is increasing from 60 to 65 in line with the pensionable age for women. To be eligible for an ENCTS pass on the grounds of age, you need to have reached the eligible pension age.

Based in Tapton Hall Masonic Centre, Tapton Hall Day Service supports up to twenty older people who enjoy the independence of living at home but who might like company or support in the daytime.

With a warm, welcoming environment, Tapton Hall is ideal for meeting other people in the community, boosting confidence, and developing skills through the various activities on offer.

Mapplewell Manor Senior Day Centre, offering a pleasant and stimulating interior that welcomes visitors who might be at risk of social isolation or whose loved ones in need of respite. Supporting an active lifestyle, the day centre is located close to Mapplewell Village. Full range of daily activities. Nutritious home cooked food.

Although known as Age UK Colchester the charity is a small, independent charity affiliated to the national body and is responsible for its own finances. Age UK Colchester operates a number of services to benefit the older people of Colchester and its surrounding environs, including an Information Service; an Advice and Advocacy Service; a Consumer and Energy Advice Service; a Legal Advice Surgery; and various social clubs and activities throughout each month.
